We got there sat down and ordered soft drinks and looked at the menu. The menu is awful you look for stuff to order on there. The menu has nothing that stands out and jump at you. So we payed for our drinks and left and went to Cajun Boilers

Great service. Wonderfully fresh oysters. Meaty spicy étouffée and gumbo. Great atmosphere and great location close to the main strip In Hot springs. We will go there again!

Where do I begin....my husband was really hungry and asked if we could stop by this spot since they seemed to be newer. We went inside and sat ourselves. Unfortunately it seemed no matter where you sat there was condensation dripping from the vents even on some of the tables. I imagine the condensation was the result of it being only 66 degrees inside. How do I know this you ask, because even the waitstaff was complaining about the frigid temp. Finally someone on staff piped up enough to have the temp adjusted and stated that the thermostat was set to only 66 degrees. All of the seats, tables and walls were covered in customer writing. I suppose customers are encouraged to add their own personalized "waz here" message whenever and wherever possible to add some charm, but honestly it made the place seem quite dingy. We ended up ordering their peel and eat shrimp 1/2 dozen oysters and seafood gumbo. The shrimp were mushy and clearly over cooked and the gumbo had imitation crab meat. The oysters were....well, they were oysters. A bit on the small side though served with about 20 crackers and a very small cup of horseradish and Tabasco. It gets even better though. When we asked for cocktail sauce our waitress stated that they offer customers a chance to make it "fresh" at their table. She took our 1/2 a teaspoon of horseradish (provided in a small cup) and mixed in Tabasco, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce and handed it back to us to enjoy. Really?!? I know how to make homemade cocktail sauce and that wasn't even close. Overall the waitstaff was nice enough and maybe this place would make for a better biker dive bar, but Cajun restaurant it is NOT!! The best advice I can give is to drop the seafood and stick to the bar basics, wings, burgers, fries and pizza rolls. Sorry, but this was an #epicfail.

Oysters were great but lunch for three of us each having two beers was a shocking $120 dozen oyster fried oyster basket taco salad and cheeseburger . One of us got our meal and by the time the rest of the food came it was Luke warm. Service was horrible. Hosted seated us at a dirty table and walked away. Didn't ask about drinks or offer to wipe off table. One waitress had about 30 people and no help. I went to restroom and hostess was just leaning on the stand while our waitress was obviously swamped. This is typical of this place. I go for the oysters and no other reason It's a popular stop for motorcycles because of the parking.

We were a little hesitant to try it because of the bad reviews and the low star ratings but I'm glad we ended up going there. The waiter was very helpful in choosing something to eat and gave great recommendations. Definitely worth trying.

The food was delicious, but the service was bad. We waited for about 8 minutes before we were greeted. Then, even though we were drinking during happy hour, they charged us for full price. I had to argue with them a few times before they just gave me the discount. The server was pretty rude after and ignored our table after we complained. Would not recommend if you're particular about good service.

The prices are right, not over charged. The red beans and rice would benefit with twice as much rice as what was served. The taste was good. The Étouffée was also very good but would have benefited with twice as much rice as was served. All and all the food was good.

Historical district of Hot Springs, seafood, outdoor seating, looks like it's been there forever...and not the best of food. I'm not sure why I keep eating here. I get the kitschy graffiti all over the walls...and tables...and booths...and even the mounted fish on the walls. That's pushing it a little from 'leave your mark over the years' to 'be a trashy kid with a sharpie marker'. My booth had 'Debbie does Dallas" written in huge letters. Come on now, people. Considering I didn't see a single Sharpie marker one laying around, it makes me feel like that the scribbles have been there for ages. This restaurant is fairly dirty. Restaurants should not be dirty. Period. I don't want greasy menus or sticky ketchup bottles. Wobbly, crusty booth seats...ugh. However, they have crawtails on the menu. Everywhere. I love crawfish, so no complaint there. Last time I ate here, I ordered the crawtail pasta, which is just spaghetti with a handful of crawfish meat and a little bit of alfredo (?) sauce. Didn't want that again, so Tthis time around, I ordered the reuben....so here we go. The bread was waay too thick and greasy. One layer of thin cut corned beef. I am pretty sure there was some cheese, and I had to open my sandwich to make sure they didn't forget the sauerkraut. I expected to be able to see the filling...when my sandwich arrived, it looked like two pieces of bread stacked together. I was imagining a thick sandwich with sauerkraut falling out the sides. So, disappointment there. Ordered chips, got a bag of plain Lay's...which is fine. Can't mess those up. Snagged a few battered and fried crawtails from someone else's plate, and there wasn't much flavor. Pretty big indicator that the meat has been frozen. Our waitress was sweet, and offered to make cocktail sauce at the table (don't get excited). I had to give her the Worcestershire sauce and ketchup from the end of the table, and she squirted them into a plastic portion cup with a scoop of horseradish. I admire the effort...but no. Cheese fries as an appetizer DO get a thumbs up. They are plain old Ore-Ida style fries with zero seasoning, a handful of cheese thrown on top and then obviously broiled. Pretty hard to mess up cheese fries, but these were good. I was pretty surprised at how pricey this place is too, especially considering the lack of effort that goes into their food. I think they have their sights set on the Oaklawn tourists and bikers traveling through.

Finesse? No. They have some local craft beer that's good but they serve it in plastic cups - sometimes. The menu selection is...... Well.... Basic. Tables dirty (old crumbs in the crevices ) menus filthy. Appetizers - jack and Jim japs were substandard. The burger was really good with grilled onions and the oyster po-boy was good but the French fries were cool. It's a good location, it could be soooooo good. I have to say the servers were friendly and worked hard.

Our extended family comes to the Little Rock area each year for a family reunion on Mother's Day weekend. We usually find terrific places to eat in the area. Fat Jack's is NOT one of those places. Thirteen of us went to lunch at 1:45 on Saturday, and we were seated at three adjoining tables. I am giving one star only because our server was outstanding. The kitchen was slow and incompetent. An hour passed before any food was delivered, and it was an hour and a half before all of our food reached us. I ordered stuffed mushrooms. The menu listed six mushrooms, two each stuffed with shrimp, oysters and crawfish. I requested three each of shrimp and crawfish, and the server said it would be no problem. I received three oysters and three crawfish, and sent the oysters back, requesting the shrimp. It took 20 minutes, and I received only two mushrooms, with tiny cocktail shrimp. The chef, who was also the manager, instructed our waitress to tell me the he knew he prepared the order correctly. No apology, just attitude! At my table, my husband ordered a Reuben, which arrived minus the thousand island dressing. Across from me, niece ordered crawdad bread, which she said had good flavor, but the bread was completely soggy. The jambalaya had pieces of pasta in it, and the two gentlemen who ate that have been sick for the last 20 hours. To sum it up - AVOID this place at all costs !!!!!

Well I have some things to say first and foremost about the service here at this restaurant. First if all the service is downright terrible. We walked into the restaurant and the sign said "wait to be seated." We nearly waited almost 5 minutes to be seated. I was thinking why wouldn't they see us at the front. My conclusion was someone might've called in sick or something, but that's just me talking. On a positive note the food is delicious and good tasting. I ordered the seafood crepes. This is a dish with mushrooms, crawfish bits and a few more flavoring foods. This dish had sort of a Mexican flavor and the cheese made it more tasty. I personally think this dish deserves a thumbs up because of the flavors and foods infused in the dish. The cheese was my favorite because that really stood out presentation wise and taste wise. I would often mix it with the mushrooms and other foods. I have to say the food is absolutely great but the service could use some work. Maybe there was a problem with the service but I'm just saying could someone put a note on the door or something? I loved our food and this was good for a try on my vacation.

I love cajun and I was bummed to see that fat jack's rated so low on yelp. Dropped in despite the bad reviews just to try their gumbo and see if I might be able to give them a 4 or 5 star. Nope. The bad reviews are warranted from what I can tell. Gumbo came out with a buttered piece of cold bread and it was nothing special. If fat jack wants to call himself cajun he betta figure out how to make a solid gumbo.

Dropped in for dinner yesterday. Ordered the Angels on Seahorses and the Mexican Triangle and two Iced Teas. Both dishes were delicious but very skimpy in serving size. Was starving when I left after a $40 tab...

Sister and I went to watch the live band upstairs in the bar area. We didn't eat, it was just a fun outing for us since I live out of state. Band was awesome, bar was pretty neat, too. Only downfalls, a lot of stairs to walk up to the bar area, and drinks a little steep on pricing. Otherwise, friendly cool staff and great place for friends to hang.

  • Leng S.

Dive bar for sure. Fun and cool place to hang out with friends and throw back a couple. Didn't try the food, but I'm pretty sure that's not their specialty. The place was lively for a Saturday afternoon. We wanted to stop by for the live band at night, but got tired from the day's events. Staff seemed very nice and we would definitely come back again when we're in town.

The oysters in the half shell were melt-in-your-mouth. There were a few other baked oyster options that were tasty as well, but just plain raw was the best. Having tried a few other items on their menu, I am not as impressed. Their po-boys are a little bland, the burger was very dry and the Cajun spice just isn't as I had hoped. I will continue to return for their oysters any day of the week, though!

Food is really bad. I saw the big sign "Étouffée" out side of restaurant, I thought it would be good to order. (Restaurant must be very good with that dish to put out the big sign.) So I ordered Étouffée, and waited for more than 35 minutes. Then the food came out not hot, and it seemed it did not cook through very well. I could taste very strong alcohol, and fake crab meat in the Étouffée. The flavor was really bad for this dish.

All I can review is the abysmal service since well, I never actually was served any food. My husband and I got here about 2pm on a Saturday, and since I am 8 months pregnant, decided to wait for a booth rather than sit at the high chairs at the bar. After patiently waiting for 15 minutes for a booth to open up, the (actually nice) hostess cleaned the booth and was coming to get us. However, a trashy looking server saw the open booth and since her "regulars" walked in, decided to give the booth to them, rather than us, the patrons who had been waiting for that. When I asked to talk to management, they were too busy to talk to me. Needless to say we walked out and will never be returning.

Ordered seafood crepes which didn't even look like crepes. Hot outside, frozen inside. They admitted that the food was microwaved from frozen. 1 star above one for the motorcycle parking

Can you give ZERO stars? That's what it deserved. Our party had six people and only one was satisfied with his meal (burger). The others: One had gumbo, which arrived after 45 minutes and was only "warm"... and not very warm at that. He ate about 20% and shoved it off to the side. It was not good. Another had Etouffee. She was "starving" on arrival, but only ate some of it. Said she could taste alcohol in it, and it smelled of cigarette smoke. I've never seen her leave food on the table before, but this time she did just that. Our other friend ordered a po-boy and finished about half of it. Hmmmm, I suppose it was not too great either. Finally, another couple with us ordered Shrimp. After 10 minutes the waiter reported they were out of Shrimp. So they switched to crab cakes. Ugh! Well, those were tasted and both of them pushed the crab cakes aside with 90% of it still on the plate. The waiter never did ask, "How was the food?" But then I suppose he had made that mistake before. Someone who appeared to be more senior, or perhaps management was at the table with the bill, saw a lot of partially eaten food, and didn't ask if there was a problem either. I'm hoping they will go out of business soon, so no one else suffers through a terrible meal there...

I cannot review the food here since we just stopped in for a beer. We were going to order an appetizer, but didn't based on the reviews we read while sitting there. Service at the bar was friendly but slow, even though there were only a couple people sitting there. I will give them 5 stars on this: $2.00 domestic beers!!! Can't beat that. We were there in the middle of the day, so not sure what the prices are in the evening or weekends.

Fat Jack's was recommended by a local and we give it a thumbs up. Great onion rings and fried pickles. The crawfish bread was good as well as the fried shrimp. Nice atmosphere too.

The service was terrible. The waitress never once asked us if we needed anything. She would walk away before we could even ask to get additional drink refills, silverware, chips for our cheese dip (very basic stuff). The food was alright, but very overpriced for what we had. It cost $50 (with tip) for two sandwiches, two beers, and a cheese dip (which was Velveeta and Rotel dip I could make at home). This was my first visit and I won't be going back.

I love the fried mushrooms this place has!! Super delicious, and our food came really quick! Didn't catch our waitress' name, but little blonde lady, super sweet and gave us some good info on the area!

Went here as a last resort while we were visiting Hot Springs last night (all other places were closed or hour and a half wait). Now we wished we would have saved our $60 and went to Olive Garden... Which has 4 stars in this town. Yes, 4 stars! Imitation crab in the Crepes (yuck!) and everything smothered in the same cheesy buttery sauce. This place needs a major food overhaul! Go somewhere else unless all you want is a cold beer and live music.

Ok, just about everything was good. Oysters were chewy. But that is typical. Red beans and rice fine. They said the etouffe was Thier specialty. It was a SALT LICK. That's why 2 stars.

Ordered "Oysters Rockefeller" which was burnt, with no apology or explanation, of course this tasted awful. The person dining with me had his food sent to the wrong table and waited 45 minutes for a Po Boy sandwich, having managed a Deli I can assure you that in no circumstance should a Po Boy take almost an hour. Bonus : The Waitress sneezed into a beer she was carrying then proceeded to give it to the customer. I guess it's a good place to have a beer and watch how not to run a restaurant, might be a good laugh if your into comedy .

Like others have said, the service is terrible both in the kitchen and with the wait staff. We waited 44 minutes for food along with the other 15 tables in the restaurant. The food was pretty sub par. Burger was generic, tasted frozen. Mushroom caps w seafood was a little slimy. Gumbo was ok but left a lot to be desired. And the whole place seemed kind of dingy to boot. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

This is really bad. Fake crab. Bad service. Not worth the really really long wait for the food. They must be making more money on the booze.

Food here was okay.. for bar food... if you're there to drink. In other words, don't go here for dinner. I went in for crawtails, 'cause I saw 'em on the menu... but they don't have any. They don't seem to know when they will have any either. Perhaps when they have crawfish I'll be back.. but that's probably the only reason I'd even consider going back. There are better bars in town.

Food was fabulous! My husband and I visited HS this past weekend and stopped by for a late lunch. We were familiar with the menu from the Texarkana location. We started with the oysters on the half shell, which were wonderful. It's so hard to find decent oysters when you're not on the coast and these satisfied. The waiter made sure to ask if we knew how to make our own cocktail sauce from the cups of horseradish he brought. We did, but I'm sure he would've demonstrated for us if needed. All of the ingredients are on the table for you to make it as mild or spicy as you prefer. Beer was cold as was the frosty mug and the waiter kept the limes coming too. Next up was our entree, and we both ordered the seafood crepes. Yummy! Personally, I would prefer less cheese and my husband no mushrooms, but again that was a personal preference. Our plates were empty except for an excess of cheese on mine and mushrooms on his! Since hubby skipped out on the bread that was served with his dinner, he was still hungry so ordered a cup of the etoufee. It was a rich and delectable dish. I tasted it, then ordered a bowl to go for dinner so I didn't have to cook! Grabbed him a bowl of gumbo. Both of these dishes were very meaty. Overall we had a wonderful lunch that turned into dinner for us. Reasonable prices for what you get. I would've given it 5 stars but I'm not wild about all of the writing on the walls and tables. Oh, loved that it was non-smoking in the restaurant! (Unlike the one in Texarkana.)

Server Gray was terrible and inattentive. Had to ask for lemons 3 times and they were not brought out until we were nearly done. Food was ok.

I was looking forward to what the very nice server was the best ettouffete in town, but unfortunately upon its arrival- the fake crab and fish was so disgusting that I felt sick two bites in. The chicken fingers were the only redeeming food item at our table. I do not recommend this place.
